Clay sand is the molding sand or core sand which is made of the clay as the binder.

Clay sand is composed of raw sand (used sand and new sand); clay binder; water; coal powder; etc.

Raw sand is composed of used sand and new sand.

The role of water is to wet the clay and make the clay produce cohesion.

The addition of coal powder is to prevent the casting from sticking sand and reduce the roughness of the casting surface.


Significance of Clay Sand Production Line For Foundry Equipment

  • Commonly, It will take about 4 ~ 5T molding sand to cast one ton of castings. In consideration of economic benefits, molding sand must be recycled and used, so we called it “used sand”.

  • Due to the molding sand is suffered from the heat of high-temperature molten metal, the sand particles are broken, the coal powder in the molding sand is burned to ash, and part of the clay loses its cohesive force due to high-temperature burning, and the water evaporates, so the used sand cannot be directly reused. Need after reprocessing.

  • Reuse of the used sand must undergo the process of shakeout sand, magnetic separation (removing iron, iron nails, etc. in the used sand), sieving, regeneration, dust removal, etc.
